  • Ross Hancock selected for Belfast Giants Team

    Ross Hancock (Year 13) has been selected to play for the Belfast Giants Ice Hockey Team.  He will make his debut in two exhibition matches in February and will become the youngest player ever to play for the Giants.  Congratulations to Ross on this tremendous achievement.

  • District Cross Country Results

    District Cross Country Results (Delamont, 28 January 2016) Well done to all those who took part in the competition under very muddy conditions! The following pupils qualified for the Ulster event which takes place on Wednesday 10 February at Mallusk playing fields: Year 8 Girls Team – 1st (Tara McDonough, Lucy Lockhart, Rachel Wolsley, Sarah Gaw, Katie Kimber, Rachel White) Senior Boys Team -2nd (Stephen Hodgson, Jacob Robinson, Ryan Wolseley, Alex Mills, Connor Trimble, Daniel Watkins, Joe Heatley) The top 15 in each race also qualify.   • Cycling Ulster Awards – Nathan Keown

    In January 2016, at the Cycling Ulster Awards, Nathan Keown (11D) was presented with a bronze medal for 3rd place in the Ulster U14 Time Trial competition.  Nathan was a member of the the U14 Ulster Cycling squad which competed at international youth championships in Kanturk, CoCork and Errigal, Co Donegal.

  • Top of the Bench Competition

    Congratulations to Cameron Matchett (Yr12), Ellie McMichael (Yr 11), Erin Dawson (Yr10) and Daniel Garcia-Wilson (Yr 10) who took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench Competition at  Queen’s University on Thursday 21 January 2016. After a series of rounds including a question paper, an experiment and a quiz,  they won 2nd place only narrowly missing out on top place by 1% to Dalriada School. Well done!

  • Boys Hockey – past pupils play 1st XI team

    The boys 1st XI played a fixture over the Christmas holidays against past pupils, with quite a few parents watching a close match the school team had the edge over the past pupils. Sullivan 4 (C Carson, J Matchett (2) and C Robson)      Past Pupils (M Robson, S McDonnell and D Whittington) The past pupils plating were: Michael Robson, Connor Roberts, David Whittington, Simon McDonnell, Jack Preece,  Steven McQuillan, Marc Price, Tom Blair, David Perry and Alexander Gray)

  • Boys Hockey – McCullough Cup Winners

    Congratulations to the 1st XI boys hockey team on winning the McCullough Cup for the first time in the school’s history. 55th McCullough Cup Final – Wallace High School v Sullivan Upper School Wednesday 9 December 2015 Match Report:  Sullivan headed to Lisnagarvey to play Wallace High School on a showery blustery day. In what was thought to be a tight match it started off with two teams trying to work each other out.  Sullivan had a few chances with the Wallace keeper making a few good saves.  Sullivan took the lead with a goal from John Matchett. Callum Carson scored soon after.  Wallace were awarded a penalty stroke and this was converted by Andrew O’Hare. Half-time Sullivan 2 – Wallace 1 Wallace came out fighting in the second half and equalised through Matthew Nelson.  But with the Wallace keeper,James Ritchie, in great form, he was keeping the Sullivan attack at bay.  John Matchett scored again to give Sullivan the lead. Wallace were again awarded a penalty stroke, Andrew O’Hare stepped up to convert it. With the match closing in on extra time, Wallace attacker, Jacob Herman, was one on one with Sullivan keeper, Max McCone, who brought a great save and the ball was cleared.  With 20 seconds to go John Matchett scored to complete his hat-trick and seal the win for Sullivan. Final score Sullivan 4 ( J Matchett 3 and C Carson) – Wallace 3 (A O’Hare 2 and M Nelson) As well as winning the trophy for the first time in its 55 year history, John Matchett won player of the match and Callum Robson player of the tournament.  Sullivan were also the only team to win all their matches in the tournament. (Goals for – 48, Goals against – 5).

  • Boys Hockey – 1st XI reach McCullough Cup Final

    Sullivan beat Friends School Lisburn in the semi-final of the McCullough Cup.  Sullivan took an early lead when Adam McAllister intercepted a pass and went one on one with the keeper – scoring a good goal. Sullivan increased their advantage with good work from Callum Robson, Adam McAllister and finished off by Matthew Crookshanks.  Friends hit back with a goal on the break, their only shot in the first half. Half time Sullivan 2 – Friends 1 Sullivan dominated the second winning quite a few penalty corners but Friends keeper, James Milliken, was on top form.  Finds eventually succomed to Sullivan’s penalty corner routine when John Matchett deflected a shot into the goal. John Matchett saved the best goal to last with a reverse shot into the top of the net from a tight angle. Final score – Sullivan 4 (McAllister, Crookshanks and Matchett 2) – Friends 1 Sullivan will now face Wallace High School on Wednesday 9 December 2015 at Lisnagarvey with a 2.00 pm start.

  • Hockey – Ireland Trials at U16 and U18

    Following the recent Interpro series of matches we are delighted that all boys who were selected for Ulster have been selected for Ireland trials. U18 Callum Robson (Yr14) and Matthew Crookshanks (Yr13) U16 Fergus Gibson (Yr12), Tom Robson (Yr12), Harry Morris(Yr11) and Matthew Morris (Yr11) In girls hockey, Laura McCaw (Yr12) has been selected at U16 level.

  • Boys Hockey – News

    Ulster U18 and U16 won the Interpros this weekend. Sullivan were represented by Callum Robson and Matthew Crookshanks at U18. The U16s were Fergus Gibson, Tom Robson and Harry and Matthew Morris.
